Studies on Adult Mammalian Neural Stem Cells during injury induced hypoxic condition
Contact: sree_neu@yahoo.com

Conditions like traumatic brain injury and ischemic stroke puts certain regions of injured brain into condition known as hypoxia caused by interruption in supply of adequate oxygen. The injury is followed by loss of cell populations. Neural Stem/Precursor Cells have been found to be responding to such conditions by proliferating or differentiating themselves to different cell types and also in some cases by integrating with the surviving cell population to the degree of functional recovery. Her research interest is to understand the involvement of HIFs (Hypoxia Inducible Factors) in Neural Stem/Precursor Cells response to such injury induced hypoxic conditions.
