Kingdom Fungi remain under explored despite of its role in maintaining the balance of earth via decomposition. For fungi, the main tool for decomposition is its extracellular enzymes. Laccase are one such catalyst, which can conduct one electron oxidation of a wide variety of compounds including recalcitrant aromatic polymers. My research interest is to identify and increase the laccase production from a basidiomycetes fungus and characterize the enzyme for decolourization process.
